हिन्दुओं में पितृपक्ष और नवरात्रों का काफ़ी महत्व है. पितृपक्ष में जहां हम अपने पूर्वजों को याद करते हैं, वहीं नवरात्रों में बड़ी धूम-धाम से शक्ति की देवी दुर्गा की उपासना करते हैं. कहा जाता है कि करीब 16 दिनों तक चलने वाले पितृपक्ष में किसी भी नए या शुभ काम को नहीं किया जाता. वहीं देवी के 9 दिनों में बिना पत्रों को देखे किसी भी शुभ काम को किया जा सकता है
इस साल एक संयोग बैठा है, जो बिते 427 सालों में पंचांग में नहीं बैठा. इस बार पितृपक्ष मात्र 15 दिनों में ही खत्म हो जाएगा. वहीं नवरात्रे 9 के बजाए 10 दिन चलेंगे. इससे पहले यह संयोग 1589 में बना था और अब यह संयोग पुनः साढ़े चार सौ साल बाद बनेगा.
